This was my first piece in my Honors art class my senior year, and the prompt was "fragmented reality." I wanted to do something beachy, and I liked the idea of a broken compass like someone had gotten lost at sea and washed up on an island. The colorful eye in the compass glass indicates that maybe the person has started losing their mind and everything looks a little distorted to them, and their reality is slipping away by the day.

Sealed with a matte varnish.
